Update on Collection for UMCOR
posted on September 14
Good afternoon Heartland District,
This is an update on our efforts collecting cleaning buckets, health/hygiene kits, and school kits. At this writing, the Conference efforts have assembled 875+ cleaning buckets, 600+ health/hygiene kits, and about 200 school kits. There are also additional loose supplies that have been donated that will be collected. This is a wonderful effort by everyone.
There is still time to add to these figures. Logistics for collecting these supplies have taken a bit more time than I had anticipated. This is good for the effort. We will start collecting the donations from the various district collection points Monday, Sept 18th. Wednesday or Thursday we will be heading to Heartland, South Central, Pennyrile, and Owensboro districts.
You can still put kits together and get them to a collection point. The collection points in the Heartland District remain J-town UMC, E-town Memorial, Brandenburg UMC, and Crestwood UMC.
An additional opportunity to participate in this ministry will be the latter part of next week and the first part of the week of the 25th where we will need volunteers to help sort and package these supplies for transport to UMCOR. We are still working on just where this will take place and we will advise as soon as those arrangements are finalized. It is down to a couple of sites in the Louisville area.
Good works are being done by an extraordinary group of people called Methodist and I thank you for letting me be a part of it.
