Glory Sighting: Buechel UMC holds first Back to School Bash!
posted on August 16
Buechel UMC's first ever Back to School Bash was a wonderful celebration of their children and youth. The celebration included a bouncy house, a sprinkler and kiddie pool area, and a petting zoo of farm animals. Children and youth from all of their language services participated – speaking Swahili, French, Spanish, English, and Burmese! There was free food, and members of the community came over to enjoy the fun.
At the end of the celebration, they had a blessing of the backpacks, and all the children and youth were given school supplies to set them up for the new school year. Members of St. Matthews UMC brought over school supplies and shoes from their Touched Twice Clinic to add to the supplies Buechel collected. Around 65 backpacks were given out on Sunday, not including the children who received their supplies at the Touched Twice Clinic the week before.
